I always liked this piece but I have found new meanings in the lyrics recently.

Thank you! :)

Dream Theater is by far the no1 band for me. So talented musicians they are!

This is not their main genre but it shows how much they know about music (not from the point of view of technical skills) :

This song transports me to an otherworldly place and makes me feel really peaceful and nostalgic. It somehow brings back joyful childhood memories even though I had never listened this song or this band when I was younger. I absolutely love it, and perhaps it'll have the same effect on some of you guys as well. :angelic-green: :romance-heartsthree:

Thank you for sharing it!

I like the atmosphere it raises. As well as the cover art. Looking at the band's name at first, my eyes went wide, though. :-)

I suppose performing this song live with an orchestra (lots of violins, cellos, etc) would sound beautiful.

Yeah, their band name can be a bit misleading in regards to their sound/genre  I'm glad you liked it! :handgestures-thumbup:

Would like it, if anybody had similar music with the instrument played at the beginning of the music that i linked. Also can you tell me what instrument that is ?

Thanks, alc! :-D
Interesting! :handgestures-thumbup:

I'm going to research that online for more information. I play the Bodhran (Irish Hand Drum) and well as some other instruments.
Never could follow musical notation ,though  I'm one of those "play it by ear" folks! :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling: :laughing-rolling:

Ah, so kind! :romance-kisscheek:
I'm a SUPERB musician in my head: singer (from aged 5, with hairbrush), guitarist (from aged 13, John Denver my major influence), saxophonist (from 25+, when in the first of many bands, the Social Convenor of a Club told the Lead Guitarist that the Singer should show more "tits & arse" so I picked up a new instrument) and Bodhran (too long a story for here).

On a more serious note, I am concerned about conspiracy theories that music has been manipulated to influence us negatively. I don't know if this is an OIC dark psy-op but it has prevented me from listening to current music despite the urge

Feck...I wish we had access to ALL the smilies in one go..I keep getting lost in the pages of the forum anyway, never mind the Smilies pages as well ...aargh!

I have always music in my head almost full time but unable to play any instrument... :crying-yellow:

No, sorry, I am from the pre-social media/current technology generation so no videos or online stuff...I have but one track which was recorded on cassette which consisted of all musical cliches known at that time (1980s) & was so bad, but sometimes my Ego likes to play this as a reminder of times past :laughing-rolling:
