Burkina Faso Traore

Unread postby Azra » 25 Dec 2024 21:37

i have been watching events in Burkina Faso (meaning "land of incorruptable people") and the changing of power dynamics sweeping Francophone Africa since Burkina Faso took steps to oust French control and pay off IMF/World Bank debts. Ibrahim Traore, leading since 2022 (via a coup), seems to be turning the tide for his people and re-dressing imbalances in trade and power dynamics. He talks honestly to his people (even apologising for wrongs) and has rallied tremendous support by mobilising his nation into developing industrially/economically. This growth will have ramifications beyond West Africa, if it continues. Importantly he seems to be heralding a new kind of leadership...is he on side??
